Grilling season is my favorite! There is nothing like a bacon cheese burger, and I have some tips to make them even better.

Grilling

Do you have a food that brings back childhood memories?

For me one of them is burgers and for more than one reason.

My grandmother (Baa as we called her) owned a children’s clothing store in a small shopping center.

I spent so many days at the store with her often she would send me down the street to pick up burgers and milkshakes for lunch, some of my favorite childhood memories were made with my Baa.

The grill master of my family was always my dad, He could always be found by the grill!

Let’s Twist a Classic Bacon Cheese Burger

A few years ago I had made some bacon bits for something else and hate some left over.

That night I decided to make burgers for dinner and did not have any more bacon slices left.

Also that night I did not have anything but shredded cheese so the twisting began.

I am not one to run to the store last minute to grab something I need to make dinner, I use what I have.

Let’s talk cheese, y’ll I am totally a cheese snob, tillamook is one of my favorite cheeses, I normally opt for sharp or extra cheddar.

Mostly I use freshly shredded cheese, but I use what I have and today sliced cheese was all the cheddar there was so I made it work.

Unexpected Kitchen Tool

What is your most used kitchen tool? Mine is scissors, yes I said scissors!

I use them for cutting so many things, pancakes, waffles, cheese, meat, lettuce, bacon, and cold pizza!

I don’t use scissors like I used to, when my girls were all little, they made cutting up 4 meals so much faster.

As a mom every minute counts, especially when the kids are hungry!!

Let’s Prep to Make a Bacon Cheese Burger

I toss all the ingredients for bacon cheese burgers in a big bowl and hand mix them.

Then it’s time to make the patties, keeping them the same size helps keep the grill time the same.

Let me tell you how I make sure my burgers stay the same size.

One scoop is perfect for sliders, two scoops are perfect for regular burgers, and three makes the burger of all burgers!

I use two most of the time.

Making More Than One Meal

Now that it’s just Lily and me at home, and cooking for 2 isn’t something I have ever done.

I’m always making too much, so now I make too much a prep for feature meals.

Making extra is something I have done as long as I can remember.

I pre make paties mixed with all the goodies, stack them with parchment paper in between and then freeze them.

Most of the time I remember to pull them out of the freezer in the morning and set them in the fridge.

But on occasion I forget and take them straight to the grill frozen just add 3 minutes on each side for cooking.

Tonight I grilled 2 burgers and froze 6, that’s 4 meals for me and Lily or 2 with a friend over, but just one mess and clean up!
